Min DOF Photography

Yeah that’s my first blog post written on my new Macbook pro. I’m not gonna tell you how awesome it is. I need a bit more time to get used to. Then I might just go running around like a lunatic, praising it. Almost like thousands and thousands of apple fanatics across the world. So far I like it. I still need to get a handle on some basic stuff, as well as some advanced. It is already basically set up (web browser, mail, msn etc), I still have to install all of the photo software and a few other programs (video players etc). So far I really like the simplicity, router installation and getting it up and running was a piece of cake. Drivers? What the hell is that? Anti virus software? Don’t need it on a Mac. See, those are the things I already love about it. I have some problems with blue tooth that I have to solve - I can’t transfer files from my mobile phone. And I have to swap that damn keyboard layout (Z and Y are swapped), that’s really driving me crazy .

If my  writting bored you, take a look at some of the apple commercials. Hilarious stuff! I recommend pep rally, office stress and yoga (under 2008 not latest ads).

P.S. And I LOVE Mac’s trackpad. I’m gonna use my mouse just for PS work. It+s just so big and you can do incredible stuff with it, like swipe through photos (ok you can use the arrow keys for that as well), but swiping through pages or web pages (instead of always looking for those back/forward buttons) is fun and a lot faster way to go through your pages as well.

This is going to be a short post. Almost as short as the session I’ve had with Simona. We took some shots for the cover of Ona, nothing fancy, mostly just the kind of photos that are suitable for the cover (head and head&shoulder shots). It was her first photoshoot, but she was already pretty relaxed when we started. We made a few series of shots without the hood at the beginning, but I like these better.

Her eyes are really special.

I forgot to mention that all the shots were taken with Canon 1Ds mkIII and 85 1.8. I absolutely love the results, colors are really great, as well as tone/contrast gradation. I just didn’t particularly like to wait a minute or so in Lightroom 2 for every single photo to load (it takes a couple of seconds for 30D files in Raw shooter and up to around 5 seconds for 1Ds mkII files).
